Comprehensive Dyslexia Evaluations

Dyslexia can affect your child’s ability to read, write, spell, and do math. When kids struggle in these areas, it negatively affects the way they feel about themselves as learners.

Early identification is key to providing the right kind of intervention and help at school. Understanding dyslexia helps kids feel better about their own brains and their own way of learning.

Too often, schools wait too long to offer help. When help is offered, it is often incomplete. Schools test to qualify students for services, but not to diagnose learning disabilities. A thorough dyslexia evaluation will provide insights into your child’s individual strengths and weaknesses. You can then create a plan for your child’s success.

We provide comprehensive dyslexia evaluations for students between the ages of 6 and 19.

The details matter.

The report will also include details about everything that happened during testing. Does your child have difficulty with handwriting? Are there specific sounds your child has difficulty hearing, or vowels that they cannot pronounce? Is segmenting more difficult than blending? Will word retrieval problems cause stress for your child at school? The best plan for your child includes these kinds of details.

Reading Therapy

.

At Brightwire, we believe the best therapy is provided one-on-one.

When children struggle with reading, they lack confidence.

They are embarrassed to make mistakes when decoding, so they revert to guessing. Even when working in a small group or with just one other student, a struggling reader will feel anxiety, guess at words, or shut down altogether.

Our patient, caring teachers work hard to build a relationship of trust with your child.

That foundation of trust allows your child to work hard at something that is very difficult without feeling ashamed or embarrassed. Our teachers are trained to celebrate every success! We use the Brightwire Reading Program. It is an engaging and effective intervention for students with dyslexia and other learning difficulties.

Structured literacy teaching is the most effective approach for students who experience unusual difficulty learning to read and spell printed words.
